Segway Ninebot
Segway Ninebot is the best known escooter brand globally, and their sales have surpassed all other brands with billions of dollars in sales in the last ten years. Interestingly, Ninebot bought out Segway, about the same time they started selling escooters, hence the name Segway Ninebot.
Segway ninebot's first model the ES1, came to market around 2015, and followed that with the ES2, ES4 models. All models were lightweight, capable, with 250w to 500w motors, and, the option to add an extra battery to increase speed and distance, along with integrated wires. Today Ninebot continues to make new models, with longer commute capabilities, integrated features, and better frames, batteries, and tires. NIU KQi
NIU KQi is the second largest and well known electric kick scooter brand. They brought their first escooter later to market than Ninebot. In early 2021, KQi marketed their first escooter, KQi2 Pro. Later that same year, the more compact version of the KQi2, the KQi1 Pro, was introduced.
Before that, they were selling mopeds and motorcycles with the Segway name. Many of their models have integrated wiring, foldable handlebars, and are rated for long commute travel. Like Ninebot, each year they introduce new models, new features, including off road models, which have become quite popular with all the major brands.
In early 2024, NIU KQi brought to market the KQi Air, the lightest, long distance commuter escooter to date. At 26lbs(11.9kg), and made from carbon fiber, it has many sought after features, including a wide deck(pedal), turn signals, ambient deck light, and, 50km range. Xiaomi
The Xiaomi brand is mostly settled in the European market. The Mi M365 was its' first escooter and very popular model when first introduced in 2016. With its' minimalist design and affordable price it appealed to many markets, including shared fleet providers like Bird, who featured the M365 model in its' earlier shared escooter fleet, especially in European markets. The Xiaomi brand is sold in 80 countries, although not as available in North Amercian markets. In Canada, the Derand Motor Sports store in Ottawa, does sell a Xiaomi model.
Okai
Okai is an OEM manufacturer that has supported well known brands, including popular share fleet providers. In the last few years, they started showcasing their own escooter models, and ebikes, and have emerged into the European and North American markets. Their first escooter models included the Neon ES10, ES20, and ES30, all with similar features but varying motor power and mileage range. And, they recently added several newer models, including, Zippy, Panther(off road escooter), and, the seated Ceetle. Okai escooters are minimalist in design, while integrating cool features like customizable ambient deck lighting and NFC Smart Lock. Okai is a new player in the electric kick scooter landscape, and with their selection of lightweight, unique, and off road escooters, they will be competitive in the micromobility market. GoTrax
Dallas, Texas is the home of the GoTrax brand, which sells its' escooters around the world, but mostly in North America, at big box retailers online like Amazon, BestBuy. Their first model was the GXL V2, launched in 2018. It became instantly popular with its' affordable price, lightweight frame, and replaceable stem battery. Known as a short commute escooter, it was ideal for adults who wanted a budget friendly escooter. GoTrax introduced several models since 2018, including its' long commute models - XR Ultra, and XR Elite.
MegaWheels
With warehouses in United States(California, New Jersey), Germany, Poland, United Kingdom and Japan(Tokyo), MegaWheels escooters can be found in many major marketplaces and at online retailers - including Amazon, BestBuy, eBay. Established in 2016, their escooters and ebikes, are exported to more than 30 countries and regions around the world. Turbo Ant
Turbo Ant is an online escooter store, and ships its' escooters in the USA. Its' first popular escooter was the TurboAnt X7, introduced around 2018.
